The WDMA Technical and Manufacturing Conference returned to Minneapolis in 2018 with attendance at a record high, according to the Window & Door Manufacturers Association. Over the course of the three-day event, the technical committees had the opportunity to discuss changes to the various codes and standards impacting window, doors and skylights, and develop strategies to move the industry forward.

The event also featured 17 education sessions—topics ranged from guidance on dealing with Prop 65 labeling requirements to introducing robotics and other automation technology into an existing workforce. Other education sessions included updates on the current status of the economy, future trends for the door and window markets, housing market projections, and several courses designed to increase the culture of safety among the workforce.

New to this year’s program was WDMA’s Supplier Soundbites, which gave an opportunity to showcase suppliers and the services they provide to the manufacturers. In addition, several members were recognized with WDMA jackets at the 2018 WDMA Supplier Appreciation Dinner held on June 20.
