MI Plant Recognized for Safety

May 11, 2011

The Hegins, Pa., manufacturing facilities of MI Windows & Doors Inc. was recognized yesterday with a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) award. One of only 43 Pennsylvania businesses to receive the honor, it is presented by the PA/OSHA Consultation Program of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The Occupational Safety & Health Administration award is granted following the successful completion of a comprehensive and rigorous consultation and assessment process, resulting in worksite safety and health programs that produce tangible safety improvements and maintain low team member injury and illness rates.  An awards ceremony was attended by Scott Weiant, chief of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, and Thomas DeLong of the PA/OSHA Consultation Program, as well as representatives of local government officials.

"This award adds value and dedication to a team that already works hard to build a safe environment and quality products," said Stan Sullivan, MI president, addressing the manufacturer's Hegins employees. "It is so important that at the end of the day, we all go home to our families and loved ones in the same condition as we came in to work."

Hegins manufacturing facilities produce nearly 1,300 units per day in numerous styles, colors and sizes.
