Sunrise Windows Collects More Than 10,000 items in Food Drive

Sunrise Windows delivered eight palettes of food to Food for Thought in December to assist the Toledo, Ohio-based nonprofit organization in its efforts distributing brown bag lunches to area needy.
The food was collected by the vinyl window manufacturer’s employees for the third year, with staffers turning the food drive into a fun competition amongst each other, breaking into teams and holding meetings to try to bring in the most donations.
“We have a lot of fun every year,” said Dan Foster, Sunrise plant manager. “In the end, however, the heart of all the teams is that the real winners are the people who will benefit from the food drive.”
In addition to the food drive, five families were randomly chosen by the food pantry and were assigned to each of Sunrise’s five teams. These families received an additional box of food right before Christmas.
“This is such an incredible help,” said Michelle Marks, assistant director of Food For Thought. “There’s more and more need in our community, and a donation like this goes a long way toward feeding families that would otherwise have to sacrifice [food] for other necessities.”
