Thompson Creek Honored by Maryland BBB

November 11, 2008

Thompson Creek Manufacturing has received a 2008 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland. The award is designed to recognize businesses that exhibit extraordinarily high standards of honesty and integrity toward customers, employees, shareholders and their community.

“Thompson Creek Manufacturing has been doing the right thing for the right reason. In this day and age, it’s comforting to see a company strengthen their warranties and thus their commitment to their product and their customer,” says Angie Barnett, president and CEO of BBB Greater Maryland.  Based in Landover, Md., the vinyl window and door manufacturer was selected for the award by a panel representing past Torch award winners and other BBB accredited businesses.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized by the Better Business Bureau with the Torch Award because of what the organization and award represents, “ Rick Wuest III, Thompon Creek president .
“Today the mission of the BBB is more relevant and important than ever. Consumer confidence is falling in response to increasing distrust of businesses and Wall Street. Thousands of homeowners, small business owners and investors have lost a lot of money through disingenuous, often unethical business practices,” Wuest adds. “It’s the Better Business Bureau’s mission to help the general public to identify businesses they can trust. At Thompson Creek, we’re proud to have proven ourselves worthy to be on this prestigious list.”
