IGMA Elects New President

April 18, 2011

The Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance board of directors has elected David Cooper of Guardian Industries Corp. as president for a two-year term. He succeeds Ray Wakefield of Trulite Industries, who has been active at various levels within the organization for the past 11 years.

“IGMA has demonstrated world-class leadership as a technical advisor in IG certification and as an advocate for the insulating glass manufacturers and their suppliers in North America,” says Cooper. “Working at Guardian’s Science & Technology Center has provided me a great deal of leadership training, and I am honored to take over as president of IGMA. I look forward to serving the growing IGMA membership as well as the IG community.”

Cooper is currently working on advanced IG spacer systems at the Guardian research center in Carleton, Mich. He has also worked on vacuum insulating glass and thin film photovoltaic development projects there. Prior to that, Cooper was program manager for sputtered coatings development in the commercial and residential markets.

Other IGMA board changes include election of Robert Gilles of All Weather Windows as vice president and Mark Hutchinson from Intigral as secretary/treasurer. Four IGMA members were elected to the board of directors are Scott Cardwell, AGC Flat Glass North America; Helen Sanders, Sage Electrochromics; Frank Caporiccio, PPG Industries; and Crystal Archibald of Kohltech International.
