Burkle announced the completion of its easy-LAM IFL laminated glass line installation at Viwinco Windows & Doors in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. This installation continues the growth of Burkle in the glass and fenestration space and allows Viwinco to gain capacity and efficiency.
About the installation
With this laminated glass machinery technology from Burkle featuring an in-line system, Viwinco can laminate a wide variety of glass sizes on a lay-up area of 2,600 by 5,000 millimeters in a single pass. Compared to traditional autoclaves, the easy-LAM IFL reduces energy costs by up to 60%.
Viwinco’s purchase of the easy-LAM IFL signifies further adoption of Burkle’s autoclave-free glass lamination. With the easy-LAM IFL glass laminator, Burkle replaces the conventional autoclave process, including prelamination, with a multi-stage lamination process. The easy-LAM IFL features an energy-efficient operation with short cycle times and reduced workforce requirements. This system is not only for traditional glass and fenestration make-ups but also for protective glazing, smart glass, transparent photovoltaics and more.
Corporate responses
“One of the biggest advantages of the new Burkle line is the flow. We are getting a continuous flow of smaller bed loads instead of large batches every few hours,” says Michael Duncan, general manager, Viwinco Windows & Doors. “This lines up with our just-in-time manufacturing principles and focus on maintaining smooth flow. It also helps identify potential quality issues quicker.”
“We are so happy that the team at ViWinco is loving the easy-LAM IFL,” says Kyle Lindersmith, sales manager of PV glass lamination and coatings, Burkle North America. “The in-line process is a difference maker, and with each install, we continue to get consistent feedback of the efficiency it brings.”
