Toronto area fenestration manufacturer Crystal Canada, an affiliate of US manufacturer Crystal Window & Door Systems, recently welcomed Regional and Local Councilor Joe DiPaola to tour its production facility in Richmond Hill, ON. Councilor DiPaola, who represents Richmond Hill and York Region, chairs the Region’s Planning and Economic Development, which focuses on supporting businesses, investment, and job creation for the area.

“This visit with Councillor DiPaola provided Crystal Canada the opportunity to share its plans for growth and its challenges,” says Justin Chen, CEO. “We discussed strategies to develop the future workforce in the region, programs for investment in machinery and innovation, and support for expanding manufacturing here in Richmond Hill and York.”

The future of Crystal Canada

Crystal Canada has operated for 30 years, primarily concentrating on the residential window and door replacement market. Lately, it has also been supplying larger residential and light commercial developments in the Greater Toronto Area. To sustain this growth and position the company for future demand, Crystal Canada is exploring programs that may encourage expansion with a much larger facility in the area and adding to its workforce. To enhance its competitive position, Crystal Canada is planning for more advanced equipment to fabricate insulated glass units and automate portions of the production process, assure reliable quality, and expedite delivery.  Crystal Canada is also exploring expanding its product lineup with aluminum windows for commercial and mid-rise building projects.

Following the tour, Councilor DiPaola presented Justin Chen with a Certificate of Recognition on behalf of the City of Richmond Hill to acknowledge the company’s high-performance quality products and its contributions to the local economy. “It is gratifying to have our skilled employees recognized by the Regional Councilor for their craftsmanship and dedication,” says Chen.

Councilor DiPaola’s wife Charity DiPaola, a business and public relations entrepreneur and director with several regional community organizations, accompanied him on the tour.

“Crystal Canada has a reputation for energy efficient quality products and excellent customer service, and we are very familiar with the challenges all manufacturers face.” says Chen. “We look forward to working with Regional Councilor DiPaola and other leaders on programs for strengthening manufacturing in the Greater Toronto Area.”
