DFI Subjects Protective Coating to Tests, Shows No Adverse Reaction to GE Branded Silicones

Diamon-Fusion International announced its patented protective glass coating, Diamon-Fusion, underwent a series of compatibility and adhesion tests using key GE branded silicone sealants from Momentive Performance Materials; one and two component sealants for insulating glass, residential glass, and weather seal/structural glazing.

The test results showed there was no adverse reaction to GE branded silicones when testing both the Diamon-Fusion hand application and vapor application process.

How testing is done

Momentive’s Sealants Lab completed the tests using the following standardized test methods for adhesion and compatibility:
• ETAG 002 Part 1, Section 8.3.2.4.2 peel test
• ISO 23658 Testing of adhesion properties using a bead peel test
• ASTM C794 Standard Test Method for Adhesion-in-Peel of Elastomeric Joint Sealants
• ASTM C1087 Standard Test Method for Determining Compatibility of Liquid-Applied Sealants with Accessories Used in Structural Glazing Systems

The two tests demonstrated that with an IPA wipe on the bonding area, the GE silicone products tested gave 100 percent cohesive results. There was no discoloration, delamination, or change of the Diamon-Fusion in any way observed.

The Diamon-Fusion vapor test produced the same results; with just an IPA wipe on the bonding area, the GE branded silicone products tested gave 100 percent cohesive results. There was no discoloration, delamination or change of the Diamon-Fusion in any way observed.
