NürnbergMesse canceled Fensterbau Frontale and Holz-Handwerk 2020 because of ongoing concerns around the coronavirus. The move is in agreement with the Department of Environment and Health of the City of Nürnberg. Over 1,300 exhibitors from 42 countries and more than 110,000 visitors from well over 100 countries were originally expected at the event.
In a news release, officials noted that limited business activity due to official orders and international travel restrictions in many places will make it difficult for the trade fair's participants to plan and prepare for the event.
"Our goal of creating a special experience for exhibitors and visitors with the events... and enabling the varied establishment and expansion of business relations cannot be realized under the influence of the Corona crisis," says Petra Wolf, member of the management board of NürnbergMesse.
Due to the increased spread of the coronavirus, NürnbergMesse initially postponed the event from March to June 2020. "We would have liked to hold the fairs on an alternative date in 2020," Elke Harreiß, director of Fensterbau Frontale, says. "However, the dynamic developments around the corona pandemic ultimately necessitate the decision to cancel, which is being taken in close coordination with the Department of Environment and Health of the City of Nürnberg.“
"The need for information and exchange will be greater than ever after this crisis," Stefan Dittrich, director of Holz-Handwerk, adds. "We are now looking ahead and setting the course for 2022. We are convinced that nothing can replace personal contact in the business world."
