FGIA Updates AAMA 713-24 Specification

sealent applicationThe Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance updated a specification providing a means to determine the chemical compatibility of sealants, liquid applied and self-adhered flashing materials used for the installation of fenestration products.

About the updated specification

The test methods section of AAMA 713-24, Test Methods to Evaluate Chemical Compatibility of Freshly-Applied Sealants with Freshly-Applied Liquid and/or Self-Adhered Flashing Materials, was updated to include instructions for liquid applied flashing. The test methods in the standard simulate actual field installations that occur prior to full cure of the sealant and liquid applied flashing. This document was last updated in 2008.

“These laboratory screening procedures are intended to provide a basis for evaluating the compatibility of flashing materials that are intended for use in fenestration product installations conditions and other materials that they may contact,” says Rich Rinka, FGIA technical manager, fenestration standards and U.S. industry affairs.

AAMA 713-24 is now available for purchase in the FGIA online store at the discounted member rate of $20 or the non-member price of $60.
