Magid recently won two business awards: the Chicago Tribune Top Workplaces 2021 and the Family Business Magazine CEOs to Watch 2021. The Chicago Tribune Top Workplaces award is based entirely on employee feedback gathered anonymously by a third-party survey administered by Energage LLC. The survey uses 15 measures of company culture such as alignment, execution and connection.
According to Jen Almodovar, Magid’s executive vice president of people, “We worked hard to create an environment where people can be themselves, make a difference and have fun. We are proud to be recognized as a top Chicago workplace.”
The Family Business Magazine CEOs to Watch award is a nominations-based process with candidates vetted by the magazine for their success, their vision and their leadership. According to Family Business, “Along with providing solid returns for family shareholders, family business CEOs must communicate well with the family, support good family governance, and manage the business with the next generation of owners in mind.”
Magid’s CEO, Greg Cohen, won the award after being nominated by Gigi Cohen, Magid’s executive vice president. “Since becoming CEO in 2015, Greg has led the company to achieve record growth by preserving the family legacy of people first, a steadfast focus on the long-game, and a balanced push to improve," she says. "His leadership also reaches beyond the walls of Magid to help address the challenges facing the world today.”
“Doing what’s right for our people is doing what’s right for our business,” says Cohen. “We started in 1946 as a small glove company and we’ve grown into a major player in all aspects of the safety industry with a goal to keep 5 million workers safe. I began my career as a 12-year-old boy picking orders in my family’s company warehouse and eventually became Magid’s CEO, working with our leadership team to make critical decisions. I have always known that Magid’s incredible team is responsible for our collective success and we’ll continue to focus on keeping our customers’ workers safe and keeping our own employees engaged and energized by the work they do and the culture in our company.”
