The National Fenestration Ratings Council reported that ongoing NFRC Product Certification Program accreditation efforts have necessitated changes to its certification mark.
The requisite changes detail that one requirement for accreditation through the Standards Council of Canada is a market designator for those that sell products in the Canadian market. This designator is accomplished by adding a “C” and “US” to the registered NFRC Certification Mark, creating a combined mark for those selling in both the Canadian and U.S. markets.
The mark must be used by participants, as defined in the NFRC—7018 Labeling and Mark Usage Requirements, selling NFRC-certified products into both the U.S. and Canadian markets, as well as those selling only into the Canadian market. The mark is undergoing registration in both the U.S. and Canada, and officials say it is acceptable for use in both countries.
For those participants selling NFRC-certified products only in the U.S., no changes are required; they may continue utilizing the current NFRC-registered mark. Those selling in both Canadian and U.S. markets, as well as those selling only in Canada, may request artwork for the combined mark by reaching out to compliance@nfrc.org.
Participants required to make the change are given up to 18 months, starting on Jan. 1, 2026, to transition to the combined mark. Any new manufacturers entering the Product Certification Program must follow the NFRC 7018 immediately upon authorization to label.
