Investing in people and communities
Pete Kuyper had a dream of creating jobs for the people in the small, Dutch immigrant community of Pella, Iowa. He understood a good way to create jobs was to have a manufacturing business in the town, leading him to invest in an idea, a window screen that rolled up and down like a shade. Kuyper went on to build a company based on the principles of traditional American values, integrity and the desire to enrich the homes and lives of others.
Today, that company is Pella Corp. Over the last century, Pella has grown and evolved to a family of brands with more than 10,000 team members across sales branches, install hubs and 18 manufacturing sites nationwide.
"The heart of Pella isn't just in our products or innovations—it's in the people who make them possible. It's their passion, creativity and expertise that inspire us to push boundaries and continue to create brighter futures for the next generation and beyond," says Pella CEO Tim Yaggi.
A century of growth
Over the past century, the company has:
- Invested in people through career growth, development opportunities, and fostering a culture of collaboration and best practice sharing between long-tenured team members working alongside newer coworkers.
- Received recognition as a leading innovator in the window and door category, earning industry awards, securing spots on top innovation lists, while pioneering more than 150 product and design patents, and introducing several industry firsts—most recently the Pella Steady Set interior installation system.
- Built a family of brands that includes a comprehensive product portfolio.
- Grown its manufacturing footprint to 18 manufacturing facilities, continuously improving its production processes.
Looking ahead
The company attributes its success to embracing change, learning continuously and taking care of people.
"Since 1925, remarkable growth and innovation have shaped our story—and through it all, the care and passion of our people has remained our greatest strength. With our fighting spirit and bold imagination, we will continue to dream big, reimagine what's possible and build a brighter future for our team members and customers," says Emily Videtto, president and chief operating officer, Pella Corp.
As Pella celebrates its centennial, the company remains committed to strengthening the communities where it operates and making investments that position it for long-term growth, including advancing its innovation pipeline, implementing technology, building a talent advantage and furthering strategic partnerships.
Celebrating the centennial with local community
To commemorate this milestone, Pella will host a series of events throughout the year, including celebrations across its facilities, employee appreciation events and increasing charitable support.
The company will celebrate with the community of Pella during the 90th Annual Tulip Time Festival this spring. The company will host a grand opening of its newly redesigned Pella Museum. At the event, community members can ride on a new city trolley, a commemorative gift from the Pella Rolscreen Foundation to Pella Historical Foundation. Later this year, Pella will welcome visitors to the newly revamped Pella Plaza at the Iowa State fairgrounds.
