Despite a pandemic and an economic slowdown, 2020 broke the record of the number of homes that were HERS Rated, with 299,755 homes in the U.S. being HERS rated and issued a HERS Index Score. Massachusetts was the top-performing state, with 87 percent of new homes being HERS rated.
Based on data from the RESNET National Buildings Registry and U.S. Census Bureau, the following are the top ten states in the percentage of new single-family and duplex homes HERS rated in 2020:
Massachusetts: 87 percent
Indiana: 54 percent
Nevada: 48 percent
Arizona: 47 percent
Delware: 47 percent
Minnesota: 45 percent
Ohio: 45 percent
Colorado: 42 percent
Texas: 40 percent
Oklahaoma: 39 percent
