The Door and Hardware Institute announced that Thomas Seidel has joined the association as its new director of technical activities. An experienced professional with over 30 years in the door, frame and hardware industry, Seidel will assess DHI’s existing education program and develop plans to enhance and expand it with revitalized offerings in the future.

Seidel began his career as an estimator and project manager for a Western Pennsylvania distributor before becoming the manager of two of its regional offices. He was most recently a training manager with Assa Abloy Academy. He has been engaged in the openings industry for over 33 years, having spent the last 22 years with Assa Abloy affiliated companies. Seidel has explored multiple roles with the organization, including training specialist, distribution
representative, architectural consultant and specification writer.
He is an architectural hardware consultant member of DHI, having served twice as president of the Allegheny Chapter. He is also a member of the Construction Specifications Institute and the Associated Locksmiths of America, as well as a certified fire door inspector.
