Veka celebrates its 40th anniversary in North America this year. Over the past four decades, Veka has grown from a small team of a dozen individuals to a company with four locations in North America and a workforce of over 800 employees.
In 1983, Veka began its operations in a rented space, with a single extruder at Traco in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. Veka broke ground in 1992 and built a facility 20 miles down the road, in Fombell, Pennsylvania. Within a year, four pioneering customers embraced this vision; Veka says their commitment endures to this day and that these partners, among numerous others, have played a pivotal role in the success of vinyl windows throughout North America. "We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our customers as together, we've built a legacy of innovation and successful growth," according to a news release.
As a family-owned business, the heart of Veka's success lies in its mission to care. Veka prioritizes long-term growth working together with customer partners and team members alike. The company is proud about its pioneering role in vinyl recycling and environmental commitment. Via its Outdoor Living Products division, Veka is a net user of recyclable PVC material. The engagement within its local communities is another source of pride. Beyond the company's work with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Veterans organizations, Veka has given its team members over 200,000 PTO hours in a 15-year span to recognize their charitable contributions as part of the Veka Gives Back program.
Veka attributes its workforce as the driving force behind its continued growth. Veka’s average team member tenure is more than twice the industry average, according to the company. This 40-year milestone serves as an opportunity to express appreciation for their commitment and hard work. Veka is holding a series of events at each of its sites to celebrate and honor its workforce throughout July and August.
"As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we reflect on the remarkable journey we have embarked on together. The principle of We Care, We Act, We Grow has been at the core of our success and will continue to guide us into the next 40 years," says Joe Peilert, president and CEO of Veka North America. "We are immensely proud of our team members, whose dedication has made Veka an industry leader. This spirit will carry us forward to continue to grow together with our customer partners."
