The Window & Door Manufacturers Association has produced two guides to provide suggested best practices when handling large products from the manufacturing facility, through shipment, to delivery, and installation on the job site. These guides provide recommendations and tips to handle large products safely and efficiently and to minimize damage to materials and reduce the risk of injury to staff.
Delivery and transportation
The first guide, A Field to the Handling of Large Product for Windows, Doors, & Skylights: Transportation and Delivery, gives best safety practices for delivery and transportation providers on how to handle large products, from having a logistics plan, properly securing products during delivery, guidance on the safe story of products and more.
On-site construction
The second guide, A Field to the Handling of Large Product for Windows, Doors, & Skylights: On-Site Construction, helps workers understand safety principles and regulations, and dives into practices such as material handling, handling products on the job site during installation, worker job safety and other on-site considerations.
