WDMA Spring Virtual Meeting & Legislative Conference Announces Congressional Speakers
The Window & Door Manufacturers Association announced Reps. Adrian Smith (R-NE) and Kevin Hern (R-OK) will be the Congressional speakers at this year’s Legislative Conference, which will be held virtually on March 30–31.
Congressman Smith has served Nebraska in the House of Representatives since 2007. He is currently a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which has primary jurisdiction over the nation’s tax and trade policy. Last year, Rep. Smith was selected by his peers to be the top-ranking Republican of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade. He has consistently fought for tax relief for Nebraska families, agriculture producers and small businesses, including helping to craft the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Congressman Hern was sworn into Congress in November 2018. During his term, he has been a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and is the co-chair of the Small Business Caucus. Rep. Hern earned an Architectural Drafting Certificate at a Career Technology school and went on to receive an engineering degree. Late in his career, he worked as an aerospace engineer for Rockwell before getting into fast food franchising. He also ventured into real estate and hog farming.
