Former CEO of Masonite and Jeld-Wen, Philip Orsino, passed away on Oct. 22, 2024.
Orsino was a role model for young Canadian entrepreneurs. Throughout his life and involvement in the window and door industry, he consistently used his success to give back to those around him, offering his time, expertise and financial support to numerous health care organizations who benefited from his volunteerism and fundraising. Orsino was a mentor to many in the industry and his impact and contribution continues today.
Some of Orsino's many accomplishments include:
- President and CEO of Masonite International for 22 years.
- President and CEO of Jeld-Wen Inc. from 2011 to 2014.
- Chairman of the board of Trutech Corp. from 2018 to 2023.
- Business-to-business marketer of the year in 1992.
- Ontario’s entrepreneur of the year in manufacturing in 1998.
- Distinguished Business Alumni Award, for the Rotman school of management in 2002.
- Canada’s outstanding CEO of the year in 2003.
- Officer of the order of Canada in 2003.
- Named chairman of the board for Trutech Corp. in 2018.
- The Philip S. Orsino Cell Therapy Facility of the Toronto University Health Network is named in his honor.
