Engineered Profiles LLC, has acquired West Virginia-based company, Co-Ex Plastic Tooling, Inc. This comes after its recent announcement of adding a 93,000-square-foot production facility in Ironton, Ohio, part of the Southern Ohio Industrial District.
Co-Ex tooling previously operated in Milton, West Virginia, and the company has been owned and operated by Roger and Dorothy Smith since 1996. As part of the acquisition, the Co-Ex team will join Engineered Profiles at its Ironton location. Roger Smith brings more than 44 years of plastic extrusion processing and tooling knowledge to Engineered Profiles and Co-Ex has long served the plastic extrusion industry with its staff of machinists, designers and process technicians.
“We are extremely pleased to partner with Co-Ex through this acquisition,” says Mike Davis, president and CEO of Engineered Profiles. “We’re a company experiencing tremendous growth and this acquisition, coupled with our expansion efforts, will position us to support our customers’ needs well into the future. We are also excited to create new job opportunities for Co-Ex employees and individuals in the Ironton area.”
In a statement, Roger Smith says, “Dorothy and I, along with our staff, are happy to join the Engineered Profiles team. We’ve had a strong working relationship with EP for several years and have grown to know and trust the executive ownership group. We’re excited for what Co-Ex will bring to the table for Engineered Profiles as together we grow and create opportunities in our area. We are thrilled to be part of a winning team.”
The expansion will create 55 new jobs with a total payroll of over $2.2 million within the next five years, according to a release. Open positions will include machine operators, tool and die makers, and maintenance professionals.
