Viwinco Windows has broken ground on a 70,000-square-foot glass processing facility located directly across the street from Viwinco’s Morgantown, Pennsylvania, manufacturing plant, adjacent to its research and development building.
The new glass facility will contain glass processing equipment including cutting, tempering, laminating and insulating glass machinery. The equipment runs off of software fully integrated with Viwinco’s manufacturing software that was developed in-house. Viwinco expects this project will allow the company to increase capacity and enhance product quality.
"This project has been in the planning stages for a while, and it is exciting to see it begin to materialize,” says David Barnes, Viwinco president. “We began conceptualizing this project nearly three years ago, as we predicted that our current glass shop would become a manufacturing bottleneck in coming years. The new state-of-the-art glass facility is the next step in Viwinco controlling the source, and will allow us to continue to manufacture products of the future, using cutting-edge technology.”
This facility will also allow Viwinco to repurpose its existing glass shop footprint in its main building, to expand vinyl capacity, while positioning the company to support its core customer base and capitalize on growth opportunities, according to a company statement. Viwinco expects the new glass facility to be completed and operational by Q1 of 2022.
“We are really excited for what this project means for Viwinco and our customers," says Michael Duncan Jr., Viwinco general manager. "Leveraging this equipment and software with our current business will enable us to continue to provide high-quality products at industry leading lead-times as Viwinco and our customers continue to grow.”
